About us

Jessica Gerdel is a certified Argentine Tango teacher based in Vienna, dedicated to exploring and sharing Tango Argentino as an embodied and evolving practice.

Her work combines tango pedagogy, somatic awareness, and movement education to help dancers develop clarity, adaptability, and connection.

Rather than focusing on copying or memorizing sequences, her teaching emphasizes the foundations that make tango work in real social dance situations.

Jessica brought together her academic background in Sociology, Communication, and Education, with pedagogical training from the Tango Instructors Program at the University of Tango in Buenos Aires. In parallel, she got certified as a Yoga Integral teacher, later specializing in Yogatherapy, Kundalini Yoga, and training of trainers.

Witnessing the transformation that tango can create in people’s lives led her to deepen her studies in movement education, somatics, and Dance/Movement Therapy. This interdisciplinary background informs a teaching approach that supports dancers in understanding not only what to do, but how and why movement works.

Her interest in the sociology of music, arts, and everyday life also shapes the way she approaches tango as a cultural practice, transmitting Tango Argentino not only as a dance, but as a social language of connection and improvisation.

First in Buenos Aires and later in Vienna, since 2015 her classes have welcomed dancers from complete beginners to experienced tango enthusiasts who wish to refine their technique and deepen their relationship with themselves, their partners, and the community that forms around the dance.

In Vienna she offers:

Tango Basics courses for beginners and detail-oriented improvers
Focused Prácticas to support learning through guided practice
Tango Immersion Weekends exploring musicality, connection, and technique
Milonga Itinerante, a welcoming social tango event bridging tradition with contemporary awareness
Tango & Movement Pedagogical Path, a program exploring movement learning and tango pedagogy
Yoga and body awareness sessions
Somatic practices for couples to cultivate connection and shared presence

Her work invites dancers to approach tango as more than a set of steps, as a living dialogue in an embrace.

If you are curious about exploringTango Argentino in Vienna beyond memorizing figures, her classes offer a space to discover how the dance unfolds through listening, mindful movement, and shared experience.
